A REBELLIOUS ACT OF SELF LOVE
I try to take photos every day; it’s my daily practice and self discipline. They may not always be profound images and I might only take one or two, but it’s something I’ve done consistently since 2019. Even when I’m feeling overwhelmed with work or life, it’s a rebellious act of self love — to selfishly take photos just for me because it’s when I feel the most at peace.
I also love the process of evolution and as a photographer, I am always looking to evolve my work. I am always asking myself, “How can I make this better? What would I do differently?”. Style should be fluid and adaptable, but authentic.
When I’m feeling lost or blocked, it’s the best time to get quiet, take a walk with my camera and be present in the moment, letting my instincts take over. That’s when I feel the most connected. It’s that feeling that drives me to continue my work. Photography has become an extension of who I am and has given me a beautiful purpose. I can’t imagine life without it.
I hope you find something that brings you back to your self and gives you peace and a sense of wholeness — and I hope you make it your soul purpose to practice it everyday.
Love, Kamokila
